What Is Varicosity?

Varicosity or varicose venis is one of venous bloodstream aberration – Chronic Venous Insufficiency (CVI) – symptom. Nowadays 60% of adult population of the world has the CVI signs. That is why CVI is also called «decease of civilization».

For the CVI development the following risk factors are required:

  • genetic burden;
  • pregnancy, repeated especially;
  • long standing on one place;
  • long sitting in one pose, including «cross-legged» position;
  • lifting and bringing of weights;
  • age over 40;
  • overheating (sun, solarium, sauna);
  • extremity traumas;
  • sedentary life;
  • excessive weight. Body weight increase over 27kg/sm2 raises CVI development risk for 33%;
  • Consume of high processing level products. Decreased dietary fiber level in one's diet (raw fruits and vegetables) needed for vein wall restore;
  • Chronic constipations, which lead to intra-abdominal pressure increase;
  • Hormonotherapy. Use of hormonal contraceptive drugs.
